Susie Davies Splitter joined us once a week for a term of musical experiences.
The children joined her in half groups for a half hour each. This half hour was filled with dancing, individual and group singing, instrument playing and musical games.
The children always had lots of fun and were enthusiastic and eager to participate with Susie. I believe this was in a large part due to Susie’s natural and vibrant personality. She was always very positive and encouraging to each child and formed a close understanding of each child’s personality and individual needs.
With Susie’s guidance, fabulous music and songs and age appropriate experiences, the children had lots of fun while at the same time cementing their understanding of the basics of music. Their confidence with individual singing improved dramatically, as did their experience of rhythm, melody and volume.
As a teacher, I also gained a lot from Susie’s visit. It was a weekly inservice for myself with lots of new ideas…and even an improvement in my confidence of individual singing!
